New play areas on the cards for Castle Point
New play areas could
soon be built across Castle Point thanks to new investment in the Labour Government’s Children’s Plan.
Labour candidate
Julian Ware-Lane said that Castle Point could receive around £1 million from the Government to invest in dozens of new play
areas. He is urging Castle Point local authority to bid for money in the next funding round.
Over the next three
years every part of the country will receive funding for new play areas. It is part of a £235 million investment being made
by the Labour Government to transform children’s play areas and make sure public spaces are more child friendly.
Julian Ware-Lane
said the local community must help to decide where the money should be spent and wants to hear from local families about which
play areas should be rebuilt or where there is a need for new play facilities. The funding could help to develop 20-30 play
areas across Castle Point.
Julian Ware-Lane,
Labour candidate for Castle Point, said:
“As part
of the Children’s Plan the Labour Government will be investing £235 million to build new play areas in every part of
the country. I want our area to get this funding as quickly as possible so we can start to develop and rebuild children’s
play areas across our community – benefiting thousands of children and families in our area.
“I also
want to make sure the local community is fully involved in deciding how and where this funding should be spent. That’s
why I want to hear the views of local parents on which play areas should be rebuilt or where there is a need for new play
facilities
“Play
is vital to help children have fun, but it can also keep them happy and healthy and allow them to develop and explore the
world. This funding from the Labour Government will help to ensure all children have somewhere safe, stimulating and exciting
to play outdoors.”
"Castle Point's
record on facilities for the young is not brilliant – this is an opportunity to put that right."
